The Russian press has linked him to the Region conglomerate. The registry information corroborates this as well: Babin was the leader of the group’s directly owned structures.
Since Viktor Medvedchuk’s time as a people’s deputy and a visit to the Ukrainian parliament, the Russian group of companies “Region” has been well-known. The politician told Schemes at the end of 2020 that his brother Sergey had a job in the region.
The Schemes were able to obtain financial data for 2022 from the GK Market company, which owns both Tradeproekt with its gas stations and the oil broker ATI. There, the reporters met individuals with ties to the Medvedchuk family’s enterprise.
Timur Abertasov reportedly purchased stock in the company for 500,000 rubles on September 5, 2022.
